The Great Cake Fiasco.
What can we say? Sophistication…add wine….alot of wine….alot.
This is the largest photo shoot X-LOX has done to date, it’s also the first photo shoot where we have branched out and used the help of others to get this together.
The help of Matthew Burgess from fhphotography.net, a good friend and very talented photographer was requested and an offer by the awesomely skilled MUA Karen Hopwood was accepted.
Five models. The concept was based on a huge colourful banquet, each model was dressed and designed to represent a different sort of food/sweet.
Models:
Taylor: Lollypop. On her hot pink wig, an assortment of cyberlox was added in baby pink/deep pink and opal swirled and black as well as pink and black foam and pink lace.
Kessi: Bubblegum. Kessi’s blue fringe complimented her character very well. Kessi’s hair was all her own which was curled [and took a VERY long time to do] She wore a hair piece made from feathers with a large blue ball made from HAIR.
Azaria: Chocolate. Azaria’s dreads were all double ended made from different shades of brown swirled together.
Jak: Candy Cane: A white and red swirled wig was made. White foam was added as an accent and a cute red top hat!
Louise: WAS THE BUTLER!
Basically a nicely set out table with beautifully decorated food was ruined as the wine sunk in and the sophistication left the building. But seeing everyone covered in cake was well worth it in the end.

Circa Nocturna
Mar. 4th, 2007 | 10:42 pm
We are back from Melbourne and have slightly recovered from a hectic two day shedule. The show was AMAZING. Met some wonderful people, and perved on the up-and-coming fashions of melbournes finest alternative designers.
X-LOX managed to score the gig of doing hair for Z-ENTITY clothing; and might i say, the models looked HOT.
Thankyou to Steph [the designer] for her wonderful hospitality and to Kimothy, Cameron and Ryan for letting X-LOX attack your heads and faces with extravagent wigs and make-up.
Cabaret Nocturne hosted the after party where too much was drank and we danced the night away. Expect to see more of us Melbourne.
Once we receive some of the press photos we'll be sure to post them up.

Once upon a sea story
Jan. 16th, 2007 | 08:52 pm
“Once upon a sea story.”
Tells the story of a young boy, a pirate, who falls in love with a girl from the sea.
The photoshoot was centralized around this small story line. There weren’t any deaths involved (soap opera is banned), but it still made for a cute theme.
----------------------------------
Pirates, Sea women and sharp rocks pretty much summarizes Monday’s entire photo shoot. Sun burns, cuts, vomit and chronic back pain all thrown in there as well.
The morning before the shoot Cherubicka was spewing out her guts all because of a highly contagious and highly inconvenient flu, her only hope of getting well again was the fear that she’d be murdered by Miss Razors for possibly having to postpone the shoot. BUT Cherubicka soldiered on with the help of several medical drugs (swallowed by the handful)…unfortunately all this was in vain when she managed to give Miss Razors the sickness the very next day. Yes, her face was pretty much plastered to the toilet bowl for a majority of the morning before leaving for the shoot. Fun times.
Still the show MUST go on…
For this shoot we used two swanky new models. Chenoa and Monica. Terribly exciting. The idea was something we had tucked away, scribbled on a piece of paper in a scrapbook that was created well before the launch of the website, it’s been long awaited, if not some what sentimental.
Though our original destination was Manly beach, we ended up in a little place called ‘Edwards beach’ out near Balmoral. So with some of Miss Razor’s awesome directory techniques we got there within an hour and a half [Cherubicka denies such “awesome directions”]. We scoured the beach and found some excellent locations, thoroughly encouraged by the beautiful colour of the water.
The dreads were actually quite simple – smooth, slick dreads. It was the way they were installed and styled that made them look interesting. Cherubicka would like to boast her aweeessoomme braiding skills.
Makeup: We applied a fake tan on Chenoa the night before. That was a rather interesting 15 minutes. We wanted her to appear more ‘boy-ish’ so we didn’t choose to use a lot of make-up because this would only enhance her girly features. A little bronzer and some smokey eyes and she turned out looking a lot like jack sparrow really.
Monica’s make-up however was a little more complicated – she is naturally quite pale so the make-up had to be subtle - some very earthy tones in eye-shadows, consisting of several different shades of browns did the job well. Ending the whole procedure by gluing small shells to her face, which gave her a beautiful mermaid effect.
All of the clothing was purchased, most of it long ago when we first planned to do this shoot – and luckily still came in handy.

The rest of the set can be viewed on our website.

Model: Louise
Putting our excitement aside, this photo shoot was not planned in the slightest. It was all thrown together barely a day or two before the shoot because of an invitation to submit photos to be featured in Fiend Magazine. We were running out of time to send in photos…
This time we wanted to experiment with curly extensions – considering the theme was hardly as extravagant as some of our last – so we had to make sure the hair was at least a little different without involving too much blood and sweat.
Miss Razors skillfully curled all of Louise’s natural hair and created a small finger wave at the fringe. We then teased up the top layers to make them appear bigger and added black and orange curly/wavy dreads.
Again, because of lack of preparation the photos were shot entirely in Miss Razor’s room, using both natural and fluorescent lighting.
Miss Razors concealed Louise’s face (and chest *cough*) in a good amount of foundation. Making her face a nice pale canvas…READY FOR DESTRUCTION MWAHAHA.
We used both Sebastian Trucco and Masquerade to achieve a sort of boxing theme with a dash of elegance. Cherubicka worked on creating a black eye using black eye shadow and smudged eyeliner, and then blood (mixed entirely out of red and black paint) carefully painted on. Unfortunately, due to the lack of organization for this shoot we were forced to cope with the everyday house hold utensils as work tools.
ANYTHING for X-LOX.
A couple of bloody bandages later and we were finished.
…and we have SOOO many interesting - but funny outtakes.

Check the rest of the set @ x-lox.net. You'll find it in the dread gallery.
